Vintage Guild 12-string with great playability and sound!

Guild has been known as the "Guild of 12-string guitars" since the folk boom of the 1960's. This model, featuring a 17" wide jumbo body and mahogany sides and back, was released in 1966. This model, featuring a 17-inch wide jumbo body and mahogany sides and back, was released in 1966. The serial number of this guitar is estimated to be made between 1966 and 1969.
When it first arrived at our store, the neck was warped and twisted, the top was bulged, and the bridge was thinly shaved, as is typical of 12-string guitars. Since the top bulge cannot be corrected, the bridge was not modified, but the fingerboard was modified with refretting after adjusting the neck angle at our affiliated repair store. The nut and saddle were also replaced at the same time. The center seam under the bridge, both sides of the fingerboard, and both nicks on the top had cracks, which were also repaired (glued) at the above repair store. The center seam has been filled with putty and the cracks have been sealed. There are also dents, scratches, cloudy/chipped/peeling paint, worn soundhole edges, shrunken/warped head plate, and rusted/tarnished metal parts. As mentioned above, the instrument is in good condition.
As mentioned above, the condition pertaining to playing has been firmly set up, so playability is very good. The left hand fingering is stress-free. The sound is also excellent, and you can enjoy the sparkling sound that is typical of 12-string guitars, without the boomy bass due to the mahogany sides and back. This is one of our recommended vintage guitars with a vintage resonance.

「プレイアビリティもサウンドも良好なヴィンテージ・ギルド12弦！」

「12弦と言えばギルド」と言われるほど、1960年代のフォーク・ブームの頃より、ピン・ブリッジをフィーチャーした現代的な設計の12弦アコースティック・ギターを数々発売してきたのがギルドです。17インチ幅のジャンボ・ボディ、マホガニー・サイド＆バックをフィーチャーした当モデルは1966年発売。アルファベット2文字+3桁の数字のシリアル番号から1966年から1969年頃に作られた物と推測されます。
当店に入荷当初、12弦ギターにありがちなネックの反りとねじれ、トップの膨らみが発生しており、ブリッジは薄く削られていました。トップの膨らみは矯正できないため、ブリッジも特にいじらず当店提携先のリペア・ショップにて、ネックの仕込み角を調整した上で、リフレットを伴う指板修正をおこないました。ナット、サドルも同時に交換しております。またトップのブリッジ下方のセンター・シーム、指板両脇、両くびれ部分にクラックが発生しておりましたが、こちらも上記リペア・ショップにて修理(接着)いたしました。センター・シームは隙間にパテ埋めを施し、割れ止めを打ってあります。またくびれの部分にはバインディングとトップの間の隙間を埋めた痕があり、他にも打痕、引っ掻き傷、塗膜の曇りや欠けや剥げ、サウンド・ホールの縁の摩耗、ヘッド・プレートの縮みや歪み、金属部品の錆やくすみが確認できますが、総じて概ね年式相応の使用感、経年劣化、修理歴と言えるでしょう。
上述の通り、しっかりと演奏に係るコンディションを整えましたので、プレイアビリティは大変良好です。左手の運指にストレスを感じさせません。鳴りも素晴らしく、ジャンボ・ボディながらサイド＆バックがマホガニーのせいか低音がブーミーにならず、12弦ギターらしい煌びやかなサウンドをお楽しみいただけます。ヴィンテージならではの枯れたレゾナンスも感じさせてくれるお勧めの一本。
