This is a Selmer replica of a saga that was manufactured at Kasuga Gakki. The year is unknown. The degree of copying is lax compared to recent replicas, but at that time there were few options for Selmer and McCaffery type guitars, and they were popular among avid fans of gypsy jazz.
We do not know the exact details due to lack of documentation, but from the outside it appears that the guitar has a spruce top (probably veneer), sides and back, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard and bridge.
It is signed by Chevorro Schmidt on the top. Dents, scratches, dull metal parts, and rust can be seen. The neck is in proper condition, with around 70% of the fret height remaining, and the guitar plays and sounds perfect. The craftsmanship is typical of a Japanese-made instrument. The hard case, which is shaped to match the cutaway body shape, is also quite valuable.

「チェボロ・シュミットのサイン入り！日本製セルマー・レプリカ！」

春日楽器で製造されていたサガのセルマー・レプリカです。年式は不詳。近年のレプリカと比較するとコピー度が甘いですが、当時はセルマー、マカフェリ系のギターの選択肢はほとんどなく、ジプシー・ジャズの熱心なファンの間で人気がありました。
資料がない為正確なことは分かりませんが、外見から、トップがスプルース(おそらく単板)、サイド＆バック、ネックはマホガニー、指板、ブリッジはローズウッドが採用しているように見えます。
トップにチェボロ・シュミットのサインが入っています。打痕、引っ掻き傷、金属部品のくすみ、錆が確認できます。ネックの状態は適正で、フレットの高さは7割前後残っており、演奏性、サウンドとも申し分ありません。日本製らしいクラフツマンシップが伺えます。カッタウェイのボディ・シェイプに合わせた形状のハード・ケースもなかなか貴重です。

All items we sell are USED and comes as shown in the pictures so there may be marks of use. All items were tested by our store staff and we test each item one more time before shipping them out to make sure they are fully functional.
