Gibson 1976 S-1 Natural

S-1, which is rarely seen these days.
S-1 was manufactured from 1976 to 1980, and distinctive models such as Marauder were produced during this period.
After 1980, it was succeeded by Sonex, Victory, Corvus, and so on.
The interesting thing is that it has a bolt-on neck joint instead of a set neck.

Now, let us introduce S-1.
The neck is made of maple and the fingerboard is made of rosewood.
(At that time, you could choose between Rosewood and Maple, and from 1978, Maple fingerboard was used.)
The bridge is a wide travel Tune-O-Matic.
The pickup is a single bar pole piece type pickup developed by Bill Lawrence, with a nice clear cover.

The finish is natural color. The body is mostly made of maple at this period, but it seems that different materials were actually used.
This one appears to be made of alder at first glance, but it is probably made of 3-piece maple.

Controls include a toggle switch and a rotary switch, and the toggle switch can be used to turn the rotary switch on or off.
When it is OFF, the pickups are used independently.

Rotary switch is used for 1, front + center series (humbucker sound in simple words)
2, Center + Rear series (humbucker sound)
3, Front + Center series + Rear parallel
4、Front + rear phase sound
The various sounds are very appealing.

Body date: JAN 16 76 (made in 1976)
Neck head serial: 966478 with Mide in USA stamp
We have seen several same-model pieces with similar serial numbers, but it is a mystery, a mystery serial number.

Gibson 1976年製 S-1 Natural

最近では、なかなか見ることも無くなった S-1
1976年～80年まで製造されており、この時期マローダーなど特徴的な個体を製造。
80年以降には、Sonex、Victory、Corvusなどに受け継がれていきます。
面白いのは、セットネックじゃなく、ボルトオンネックジョイントと言う事、Fen◯erに寄せて行った感じでしょうかね？

では、S-1 を紹介致します。
ネックは、メイプル材、指板は、ローズウッドを使用しております。
(当時、ローズとメイプルが選ぶことが出来、1978年からはメイプル指板となります)
ブリッジは、ワイド・トラベル Tune-O-matic
ピックアップは、ビルローレンス氏が開発した、バーポールピースタイプのシングルピックアップ、クリアカバーも素敵です。

フィニッシュは、ナチュラルカラーで、この時期ボディは殆どがメイプル材で作られておりますが、実際は異なる材料も使っていたみたいです。
こちらの個体は、一見アルダー材のようにも見えますが、おそらく3ピースのメイプル材か使用されていると思われます。

コントロールは、トグルスイッチとロータリースイッチが有り、トグルスイッチはロータリースイッチのON/OFF
OFFの場合は、ピックアップの単独使用

ロータリースイッチは、1、フロント+センターのシリーズ(簡単に言うとハムバッカーサウンド)
2、センター+リアのシリーズ　(ハムバッカーサウンド)
3、フロント+センターのシリーズ+リアパラレル
4、フロント+リアのフェイズサウンド
となっており、色々なサウンドが魅力でございます。

何本か同じようなシリアルの同モデルの個体を拝見しましたが、謎です、謎シリアルです。
