The Fender Telecaster Thinline has a strong image of a single pickup model with mahogany and an ash body with humbuckers, but we have just received this two single pickup ash body Thinline.
This is one of the rarest and most sought-after guitars on the market.

The Thinline was born in 1968, and there are two types of mahogany body and ash body, and each color name is "Mahogany" and "Ash" respectively.

This particular model is neck-dated 3OCT68B, made in October 1968.
There is no date on the body, but the front pickup is a black bobbin (no description) and the rear pickup is a gray bobbin (with a 9528), which is consistent with the specifications of this period.

The pegs are mounted with Fender F-Key octagonal buttons, which were used from 1967 to 1971. The bridge is a post-63 specification bridge (DES.164227, marked 2.573.254).
The selector is a CRL 3-way (PAT NO. 2503885) mounted. The number of holes on the plate indicates that this type was used from around 1970.

The pot date is not discernible because the volume is hidden by solder. The tone is 304-6617, which means it was made in 1966. Both pots have the same shape.
The control knobs are fretted knobs used in mid-67.

The capacitors are a yellow Circle D and a smaller Circle D for the high-pass filter.
The high-pass filter is wired from 1969, and some of the other parts are from 1970, so it seems to have been made between 1968 and 1969.

Since all parts, specifications, and neck date from the latter half of 1968, there is no particular replacement of parts, and there is no possibility of originality due to specifications unique to the transitional period.
In any case, since it cannot be dated exactly to 1968, we will list it as 1968-1969.

The frets are quite low on this one, but if it were to be refretted, it would affect the clarity of the fingerboard surface, so it is presented as it is now.
Also, a hole has been drilled near the control knob on the pickguard, and there are signs that some functions, including wiring changes, have been added in the past.

There are some signs of use such as scratches, dents, and shrinkage of the pickguard, but they are proof that it has survived more than 50 years, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that these are all medals.
