Throughout his teens, he honed his skills in guitar assembly and repair, working as a repair technician for many local bands.After graduating from high school in Saskatoon, Austin enrolled at the Guitar Craft Academy in Hollywood, where he further honed his guitar-making skills and deepened his passion for the craft. His talent was recognized, and he was offered a teaching position immediately upon completing the course. While teaching guitar making for five years, he met Ron Thorn at an inlay seminar and was soon invited to work at Thorn Guitars.Austin spent 11 years crafting boutique electric guitars under the Thorn brand. From selecting and processing the wood to operating CNC machines, fretwork, and the final assembly, Austin handled every step of the process.
