06-2800005424645
[SN V025125] USED FENDER USA / 1986 American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Candy Apple Red [06]
We’ve just received a used American Vintage 62 Stratocaster—40 years after its manufacture, it already exudes a vintage vibe!
With a neck date of “12-19-86” and three pot dates of “R1378634,” this guitar is believed to have been made in 1986. This was a transitional period when production shifted from the Fullerton factory to the Corona factory, which is still in operation today. However, it seems that during this time, guitars were sometimes assembled using leftover bodies and necks from the Fullerton era. While we cannot confirm the exact history of this particular guitar, when compared to later American Vintage models, differences can be seen in the contouring of the body back and the careful rounding of the fingerboard edges.

It features a relatively thin C-shaped maple neck with minimal thickness variation toward the high frets, a dark-stained slab-grained rosewood fingerboard, and an alder body finished in Candy Apple Red with crackle paint that gives it a distinguished look.
The pickups, capacitor, and pots appear to be original, but the pickup selector has been replaced with a brand-new 5-way switch.

The body bears countless paint cracks, scratches, and dents, and the slightly blackened, oxidized gold layer visible beneath the chipped Candy Apple Red finish is a clear reminder of the 40 years that have passed since its manufacture.
Other signs of wear include cigarette burn marks on the headstock, fine dents and discoloration on the back of the neck, and overall sun-faded finish. While it certainly shows signs of use, these are part of its charming patina.
There is a crack in the wood near the logo on the headstock, but it does not affect playability in its current condition.
The tremolo backplate is missing, and while the strap pins have been replaced with locking types, the corresponding strap hardware is missing.

Since arriving in stock, it has been cleaned, fully adjusted, had its frets leveled, and the selector switch replaced, so it is ready for trouble-free use. This is a guitar with a unique vibe that sets it apart from American vintage models from the 90s and beyond—please consider adding it to your collection.
Condition: B+: Some minor scratches, but no issues with normal use

Serial Number: V025125
Year of Manufacture: 1986
Country of Manufacture: USA
Case: Hard Case
Accessories: Tonearm
Weight: 3.46 kg
Truss Rod: No issues; checked up to 60 degrees to the left and right with no problems
Fret Wear: Within normal range; fret height is sufficient for playing
String height (low string side): 2.0 mm at the 12th fret
String height (treble side): 1.5 mm at the 12th fret
Nut width: 41.9 mm
Neck thickness near the 1st fret: 20.1 mm
Neck thickness near the 12th fret: 22.1 mm
Scale: 648mm (25.5")
RADIUS: 184mm (7.25")
Strings at setup: ERNIE BALL 2221 / .010-.046 set
Repairs and Maintenance: Cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, octave adjustment, action adjustment, fret leveling

* As this is a used item, there may be scratches, dents, and other imperfections that are not visible in the photos or not listed here.
