'Made before the war! 0-18K in original Hawaiian setup!"

Made in 1928. One of the Hawaiian guitars (steel guitars) Martin produced for the unprecedented Hawaiian boom. It has a round neck, but with a tall nut and flush frets. While many steel guitars were converted to Spanish style after the mainstay of steel guitars was replaced by electric guitars, this guitar retains its original Hawaiian style. The body is made of Hawaiian koa, and the top and back have relatively clear tiger grain for a Style 18. There are some dents, scratches, weather checks, paint deterioration, yellowing of pegs, and rust on metal parts, but considering the age of the instrument, the appearance is clean enough. The neck is bent forward and the top is bulged, but there is no problem to play Hawaiian style guitar, and it can be said that it is average condition of existing prewar Hawaiian guitars.
The sound is excellent, with a vintage-like dead resonance and the sweet, melting tone of an acoustic Hawaiian guitar that will enchant you as you play. The tone is similar to that of Hawaiian guitars with a hollow neck like the Weisenborn series, but this guitar has a richer sustain and a more cohesive sound, perhaps due to its round neck. It makes you want to play it forever. The beautiful grain of the koa makes this guitar a joy to hold.
With the recent resurgence in popularity of acoustic steel guitars, this is a valuable piece.
For beginners, we will give a lecture on how to play. We can also give you a demonstration. Please feel free to contact us (reservation required).
