Original plastic bridge! And it rings!"

This Cortez was made by the Gibson Kalamazoo factory.
The head angle is 17 degrees and the nut width is 41mm as measured. Plastic bridges used in products of the time were often cracked or replaced with visually pictured ones, but this one is still intact with some distortion, deformation, and discoloration. Dents, scratches, weather checks, chipped paint on the head edges, top wear from picking, and tarnished metal parts can be seen. The entire piece appears to have been over-lacquered, but the scratches and stains have been "overwritten" and there is little visual discomfort. Overall, the appearance is good for its age. The bridge plate has been reinforced with wood. The letter "e" on the pickguard is missing, which is not uncommon, but it is still present on this particular model.
The neck is in fair condition. The frets are wide and flat and appear to be original, but there are signs that they have been re-done. It appears that glue was used to fix the frets, but there is a spot on the fingerboard where the glue is still sticking out. About 70% of the height remains, and playability is perfect.
You can enjoy the crisp, dry, and tasteful vintage tone. The resonance is light, which is characteristic of plastic bridges, but the response is good, and the guitar as a whole gives the impression of sounding good. It gives the impression of sufficient volume. The small body gives the impression of being fingerpicked, but even with flat picking, you can feel the guitar's powerful response. The earthy sound is suitable for folk, blues, country, and other narrative accompaniments. The price is relatively reasonable for a vintage Gibson acoustic. Recommended.
