Guild, the Folk Boom of the 1970s!

Guild, along with Martin and Gibson, was a much admired brand that dominated the folk boom era. In recent years, Guild has begun to re-produce some of the famous models of the past at its newly established factory in California, but this is a nostalgic Westerly-era product, the D-40, also known as Richie Havens' favorite model, and the D-50's Bluegrass Special, while the D-40 was known as the Bluegrass Jubilee. The D-40 was nicknamed the "Bluegrass Jubilee" in contrast to the D-50 Bluegrass Special.
There are some dents and scratches, peeling and cracked paint, cracked truss rod cover, and dull metal parts. The pegs have been replaced, and a U.S.A. Grover rotomatic is currently installed, but only the first string is a milk-bottle type. The saddle has been replaced, the bridge has been repaired, and the bridge pins have been replaced with wooden ones.
The neck is in good condition, and the current string height at the 12th fret is about .6mm on the 6th string and about 2.0mm on the 1st string, but the saddle is set as low as it can go due to the shallow neck angle. The frets have been rubbed together and are approximately 60-70% high.
The playability and sound are perfect, with a thick core and horsepower typical of Guilds of the time. It is well grown and loud.
In player's condition and reasonably priced. Recommended for those who are looking for a practical vintage acoustic.
Top: Spruce
Side & Back: Mahogany
Fingerboard & Bridge: Rosewood
