The PRS Charcoal Phoenix Limited Edition is the embodiment of Paul Reed Smith's ideals as a guitar maker and player.

When the Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited Edition was introduced in 2023, I was impressed by its exceptional sound and playability. I wanted to replicate the same quality in a model with a stoptail bridge, and the Charcoal Phoenix was born. The use of Charlte Coco for the neck and Ziricote for the fretboard has resulted in a very articulate sound with rich harmonic sustain and transparency. The crimson body back and charcoal microburst body top remind me of a phoenix rising from the flames and ashes, hence the name 'Charcoal Phoenix'. - Paul Reed Smith // Founder & Managing General Partner, PRS Guitars

Over the past year, Paul has been testing the guitar in a variety of environments and refining the design and tone. The result is a guitar that looks more appealing than ever, has the best tone and playability, and is unmatched by any other. The deep red body back and charcoal microburst finish on the private stock grade figured maple top create an intense and beautiful contrast with the "Old School" bird inlay in Ripple Abalone. The Ziricote fingerboard with "Old School" bird inlay in Ripple Abalone adds a touch of vintage elegance. Charcoal Phoenix also features the latest TCI pickups and an EQ mini-toggle switch. The TCI pickups are new USA-made Alnico, and the windings, wiring, and electronics have all been fine-tuned for this model. The EQ mini-toggle switch acts as a high-pass filter, which, when turned on, reduces bass frequencies while providing more clarity and extension, The EQ mini-toggle switch acts as a high-pass filter that, when turned on, suppresses low frequencies while producing a more transparent, extended, and musical high frequency sound.
