The G-2 is recognized by some of the biggest guitarists in rock as the most original sounding distortion unit available. No other distortion effect pedal available today can match the originality of the G-2.
The secret is the discrete overdrive transistor circuit. This is divided into four stages, and in addition, a germanium-based stage is provided. Most distortion effectors use ICs (integrated circuits) or build their circuits using only silicon transistors. In contrast, the G-2 uses germanium to produce a warm sound with rich overtones. The G-2 produces a heavy tone, but never loses the original sound and dynamics of the guitar.

その秘密はディスクリート方式を採用したオーバードライブ用トランジスタ回路です。これが4段階に分かれており、加えてゲルマニウムを使用したステージが用意されているのが特徴となっています。歪み系エフェクターのほとんどがIC(集積回路)を採用しているか、シリコン・トランジスタのみを使用して回路を組み上げています。それに対し本機ではゲルマニウムの採用により、ウォームで倍音が豊かなサウンドを得ることに成功しています。このG-2により重厚なトーンが作り出されますが、その一方で使用するギターが本来持っているサウンドやダイナミクスを決して失わせることがありません。
