Tom Murphy is a master of aging who has been at the helm of the company's aging process for many years.
He and his team are aging guitars using the latest scientific techniques in his newly established eponymous lab in the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee.

The guitar in stock is a Murphy Lab 59 Les Paul made in 2023.
The finish is heavy aged, and the wood as well as the various parts and the hard case that comes with the guitar have been beautifully aged.

The capacitor has been changed by the previous owner, but has now been restored to its original condition.
The pegs are originally Cruson type, but they have been changed to USA-made Grover pegs. The shape of the pegs and the engraving on the pegs suggest that they are vintage pegs from the 70's. The original screw holes have been filled in.
The original screw holes have been filled in.
