Only 170 units were shipped in 1964, making it extremely rare today.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nThis guitar comes with its original hard case, receipt, and period photographs. The back of one photo is inscribed with “Stuart Johnson, St. Louis, Missouri,” and it is likely a photograph of the person who played this particular instrument. The receipt indicates it was purchased on October 15, 1965.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nThe pickups are original Stepped Mini Humbuckers; the one on the bridge has a peeled-off label but is still original. The pot dates are 137644X, 13764XX, 1376XXX, and 13XXXX—though some parts are illegible—and we have determined that all are original. The capacitor is also original: a Sprague “Black Beauty.”\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nReplaced parts include nickel Grover tuners and an Epiphone tremolo, tone, and vibrato system. Based on period photos showing these changes, it’s likely they were replaced shortly after purchase. * The original Frequensator tailpiece is included. Due to the tuner replacement, additional tuner holes have been drilled.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nOther replacement parts—including the frets, nut, and bridge—are well-made but are replacements. The set screw securing the tremolo arm support is stripped and does not move, but this does not affect the tremolo arm’s operation at all.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nWe have adjusted the tremolo arm angle, replaced the screw at the end of the tailpiece, and addressed a short circuit in the pickup’s aluminum shield by securing it internally and wrapping it with insulating tape.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nThis is a cool guitar featuring an F-mini humbucker and a parallelogram inlay; the truss rod has plenty of adjustment range, and playability is excellent.
