This is a 2003 Canopus snare with a SOTA block shell.
This snare is valuable because it is not currently in production and still not widely distributed.
The shell seems to be an American Walnut block shell, and features a shell with as little glue as possible
The impression is that it has an openness like a veneer without feeling peaky.
The shell is burly but has a wide dynamic range and a dark, warm character.

The switch seems to have been originally made by Nickelworks, but has been replaced with a Canopus switch with the same hole position.

Overall, there is a sense of use commensurate with its age, and the parts give the impression of being slightly pitted, but the shell itself is first and foremost clean, with no major scratches, and it rings well.
The shell itself is in good condition, with no major scratches, and the sound is excellent.

The sound is very balanced, sensitive and powerful.
This is a very rare snare with a unique SOTA block shell.

2003年製のSOTAのブロックシェルを使用したカノウプスのスネアです。
現在は生産されておらず、なおかつあまり流通していないスネアで貴重です。
シェルはアメリカンウォルナットのブロックシェルのようで、接着剤の量を極力少なくしたシェルが特徴
ピーキーさが感じられず、単板のようなオープンさを持ち合わせている印象。
シェルはゴツイですが広いダイナミクスレンジを持ち、ダークでウォームなキャラクターです。

スイッチは元々ニッケルワークス製だったようですが、穴位置が同じカノウプス製に交換しています。

全体的に年式相応の使用感があり、パーツ類は若干ピッツが出ている印象ですが、シェル自体はまずまず綺麗で、大きな傷も無く鳴りも良好です。
それなりに古いスネアで経年感は有りますが、まだまだ十分お使いいただけます。

サウンドも非常にバランスよくセンシティヴかつパワフル。
独特のSOTAのブロックシェルの大変稀少なスネアです。
