While this doesn’t currently affect tuning, it raises concerns about long-term durability (replacement parts for this model are available but have a lead time of about six months). Additionally, the original hoop on the top is slightly warped—or perhaps it’s incompatible with modern heads—which caused unstable tuning, so I’ve replaced it with a steel Stick Chopper hoop from the current Radio King model.
* The original hoop is included, but it is difficult to tune.
All other parts besides the head are original.
Since the shell was also slightly oversized, the playing surface has been fitted with a Lemo Classic Fit head.

In addition to the parts mentioned above, there is overall discoloration and some damage to the covering.
—while these are to be expected given the drum’s age, the shell itself shows no signs of damage, and its distinctive overtones and fat sound remain intact.
As this is a snare drum that’s nearly 80 years old, there are certainly areas that require careful handling, but it’s a rare instrument that allows you to experience the deep, original sound unique to its era.

Included: Original drumhead and hoops

1950s Radio King. Unfortunately, there are two cracks in the lugs, but this does not affect the sound.
Condition: C+: Repairs may be necessary depending on intended use
Size: 14x7 inches
Year of Manufacture: 1948–50
Country of Manufacture: USA
Case: None
Shell: Solid maple w/reinforcement
Hoop/Tension: 10-tension stick chopper (original bottom hoop)
Accessories: Original hoop (top)

* As this is a used item, there may be scratches, dents, and other imperfections that are not clearly visible in the photos or not listed here.
