This model was introduced in 1937 as the highest peak model of Gibson acoustics, and has established an unshakable position as a synonym for the super jumbo body of acoustic guitars in the present day and ongoing. At the time of its release, it was priced at $200, which, considering the J-35 and J-45 were priced at $35-$45, shows just how expensive they were.
The wood materials are citrus spruce top, maple side and back and neck, and rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
The nut width is about 43.8mm, the scale is 648mm, and the internal power wood is X-bracing with scalloped finish. The long scale, maple, and deluxe visuals are common to Gibson's Dove.
As for the exterior, as you can see, it is luxuriously decorated as befits a top-of-the-line model. Crown inlay on the head top, ivory binding on the head and neck, and mother-of-pearl on the fingerboard. The mother-of-pearl fingerboard, flower motif pickguard, and mustache bridge are all unique to the SJ-200.
The peg machine is equipped with gold parts with keystone knobs.
It has a crisp and punchy sound that is typical of maple, and has a tasteful tone that has just begun to deepen over the past 30 years since it was manufactured.

There are scratches, dings, and weather checks commensurate with the age of the instrument, but there are no cracks in the wood or major fatal dings. Some of the pickguard flowers have peeled off due to picking scratches, but when combined with the condition of the body and other parts of the instrument, it may be considered to be just right, as it gives a sense of unity.
The neck is in good condition and can be adjusted with the truss rod. The string height is 2.6mm on the 6th string side and 1.9mm on the 1st string side of the 12F, and the remaining saddle height is 2.0mm on the 6th string side and 1.0mm on the 1st string side. There are no noticeable dents or string marks on the frets, and they are still high.
The pegs, which are hardware, have rust on the body, but still function as tuners without any problems.
The neck, sides, and back are made of beautifully grained flame maple, which has a different sheen depending on the angle from which you look at it, and the feeling of ownership is sure to be exceptional. Overall, considering the age of the instrument, the condition of the instrument is in good to excellent condition. Why not become the owner of the King of Flat Tops?
