This 1957 Country Western features round shoulders and non-scalloped braces.
There are crack repair marks on the top under the pickguard near the bridge and on the lower right side of the body. The former has a crack fix applied to the back. The latter is a glue-only measure. The left and right top boards are not book-matched and appear somewhat different in color. This may be the reason that the center seam of the top appears to be raised in white from the bottom of the fingerboard to the body end depending on the angle of view, but it is not a mark of correction. The bumps due to the fading of the paint can be seen.
There are scratches, dents, weather checks, paint peeling and wear, chipping on the head edge, dents on the fingerboard due to wear, and peeling of the label inside the body. There is a slight bulge on the top, but it is at a normal level for a vintage Gibson. The bridge plate also shows some deterioration, but it does not affect the string hold. The pegs have been replaced with recent Cruson type pegs (no three-string type). The bridge pin is not genuine, and a strap pin has been retrofitted on the bass string side near the heel of the neck.
It has been inspected and adjusted at our affiliated repair shop. The neck is in good condition, with more than 80% of the fret height remaining, and the sound and playability are perfect. 12 fret height is about 3.0mm on the 6th string side and about 2.2mm on the 1st string side, which is ideal for powerful chord strokes. The original hard case is included, but unfortunately it is painted black.
This guitar has the dry resonance of a vintage guitar, and the thick and wild sound of a Gibson. The Country Western is a natural version of the Southern Jumbo, but with a sound reminiscent of country music and the American South.

「野性味溢れるヴィンテージ・サウンド！」

ラウンド・ショルダー、ノン・スキャロップド・ブレースをフィーチャーした1957年製のカントリー・ウエスタン。
ピックガード下のトップのブリッジ近くとボディの右下にクラック修正痕があります。前者は裏に割れ止めが貼られています。後者は接着のみの措置です。左右のトップの板がブックマッチでなく幾分色味が異なって見えます。そのせいもあるのでしょうか、見る角度によってトップのセンター・シームが指板下からボディ・エンドまで白く浮き立って見えますが、修正の痕ではありません。塗装の退きによる段差は確認できます。
引っ掻き傷、打痕、ウェザー・チェック、塗膜の剥げや摩耗、ヘッドのエッジの欠け、摩耗による指板の凹み、ボディ内ラベルの剥がれなどが見られ、ナットやサドルの交換歴、リフレット歴もうかがえますが、年式を考慮すれば比較的良好な状態を維持していると言えるでしょう。トップには若干の膨らみがありますが、ヴィンテージ・ギブソンとしては一般的なレベル。ブリッジ・プレートにも劣化が見られますが、弦のホールドに支障はありません。またペグは近年製のクルーソン・タイプ(三連型タイプはありません)に交換されています。ブリッジ・ピンも非純正品で、ネック・ヒール近くの低音弦側サイドにはストラップ・ピンが後付けされています。
当店の提携先リペア工房にて点検、調整済です。ネックの状態は適正で、フレットの高さは8割以上残っており、演奏性、サウンドともに申し分ありません。12フレットの弦高は6弦側で約3.0mm、1弦側で約2.2mm。ガツンと力強くコード・ストロークで演奏するのに適しています。純正ハード・ケースが付属しますが、残念なことに黒くペイントされています。
ヴィンテージならではの乾いたレゾナンスとともに、ギブソンらしい骨太かつ野性味のあるサウンドが楽しめる一本。カントリー・ウエスタンはサザン・ジャンボのナチュラル・バージョンですが、まさにカントリー・ミュージックやアメリカ南部を思わせるサウンドが魅力です。
