These high-output pickups—known as “Tar Backs” because their backs are filled with black resin—are characterized by a sweet, resonant tone and a wide dynamic range.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nOriginally finished in Cherry Red, the color has faded over time to a shade closer to brown.\u003cbr\u003e \nWhile the degree of fading varies slightly between the body top and back, the original color is still visible beneath the pickguard and under the escutcheon—a detail that fans will appreciate.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e \nOverall, there are scratches, dents, playing wear, and buckle marks consistent with its age.
