04-2800003588066
[SN 872739] USED Gibson / 1967 ES-355TD-SV w/Maestro Vibrola Sparkling Burgundy [04]
1967 Gibson ES-355TD-SV w/Maestro Vibrola Sparkling Burgundy is now in stock!

In 1958, Gibson's Golden Era ES-335T was introduced to the market as its first electric guitar with a double cutaway thinline semi-acoustic construction. The ES-335T was well received immediately after its release and was a huge hit, leading to the release of the ES-355TD, a top-of-the-line model that incorporated a number of upgrades.
The ES-355TD was initially a mono out model without a varitone switch, but in 1959, the ES-355TD-SV was added to the lineup with a six-step tone filter varitone switch, stereo out, and Bigsby as standard equipment.
In the 1970s, the ES-355TD was discontinued, followed by the ES-355TD-SV in 1982 and the ES-345 in 1983.

This model is a 1967 ES-355TD-SV, manufactured at the Kalamazoo, Michigan factory, with a narrow neck of about 39 mm nut width.
Wood materials are maple/poplar/maple laminate top/back/sides, 1-piece mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, maple center block, and spruce bracing. The neck joint uses a long tenon joint with cored out cores.

The head is equipped with Grover rotomatic-type Milk Bottle tuners with "PAT.PEND.U.S.A." engraved on the diamond split inlay, a sign of the top-of-the-line model, and truss rod cover with "STEREO" engraving.

The narrow neck is 39mm wide with mother-of-pearl block inlays and single ply binding, and the frets have been re-fretted for good playability.

Two sticker-numbered pickups are equipped. The bobbins are not visible due to the pickup covers, but judging from the time period, it is likely to be a "T-top". The pots are covered and we have not been able to check pot dates or solder.
The varitone switch, which acts like a 6-step bass cut filter, still works well and has been changed from stereo out to mono out for ease of use.

The tailpiece is equipped with a Maestro long vibrola with engraved rail logo used since 1963, and the bridge is an ABR-1 nylon saddle with patent numbered retainer.
One sombrero knob has been replaced, and the pickguard has been determined to be a replacement as it does not match the age of the instrument.

The color is Sparkling Burgundy, a rare color that was added to the regular lineup in 1967, but there were very few of them.
The binding is severely deteriorated with many areas chipped and crumbling.

There are scratches, dents, peeling around the binding, weather checks and burns on the paint, etc., but we confirmed that the truss rod turns 60 degrees both tight and loose, and the frets have been replaced, so there is about 80% remaining.

This ES-355TD-SV is a top-of-the-line Gibson semi-acoustic guitar that has been used by many legendary guitarists such as B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Kieth Richards, Noel Gallagher, etc. Please experience the impressive dignity of this guitar.

S/N: 872739
Weight: 4.45kg
Accessories: Non-original hard case

* Due to the nature of this product, we will not be able to offer this item at other Ishibashi Gakki stores.
