1989 Custom with 3pcs top and logo shape!

Among various Custom models such as 54, 57, 68, etc., this is not a "what year type" but a modern Les Paul Custom. Unlike 54, 57, etc., the body is made of maple top and mahogany back. The neck is of course mahogany, and the fingerboard is ebony, which is now rare in Gibson guitars. The top of the body is 3pcs top specification like the standard of the time, which can be confirmed by the paint pulling due to the aging process. The head logo has a crispy appearance that is unique to this period, and the PU is equipped with the foundation type "HB-R & HB-L" that was designed with the high power trend of the time. However, the bridge position has been replaced with Duncan SH-5 and the front HB-R cover has been removed. Both escutcheons have been replaced, and both Vol pots have been replaced.

The body has scratches, scuffs, line scratches, and dents. The pickguard has some minor picking scratches overall. There are large and small dents scattered around the bottom of the body top, and there are some light scratches around each knob and toggle switch. There are dents the size of a grain of rice on the side of the body by the toggle switch, and large and small dents around the jack plate. The binding on the end of the body is partially browned due to the stand, and the binding on the top of the body has some minor cracks due to age. The back of the body has a wide range of scratches from buckles, although they are not severe. There is a ding in the center of the back of the neck on the 7th floor, but it does not seem to affect the playability of the instrument. There are also some small and large dents scattered throughout the back of the neck. The binding and inlays around the head have some paint gaps due to aging. All hardware has some signs of use and chrome removal, but has been cleaned and looks clean.

The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod can be adjusted to tighten or loosen, and can still be turned to tighten and adjust. There are no string marks on the frets and about 80% of the strings are left. Currently, the string height is adjusted at about 2.0mm on the 12F 6th string side and about 1.5mm on the 1st string side.

Overall, there are some parts that have been replaced and there are some signs of use, but considering the age and background of the instrument at the time, it is in relatively good condition with no severe signs of use. There are no flamboyant use, buckle scratches, sticky stickers, etc., which are common, and the impression is that it was handled with care. This is a rare opportunity for those who are looking for an 89 Birth Year Custom!

Neck condition is fine.

54、57、68等色々あるカスタムの中でこちらは『何年タイプ』ではなく現代仕様のレスポールカスタム。ボディは54・57等と違いメイプルトップ&マホガニーバックと王道の仕様。ネックももちろんマホガニーで、指板は今やギブソンでは貴重となったエボニーを採用しております!ボディトップは当時のスタンダード同様の3pcsトップ仕様で経年変化による塗装の引きで確認できます。またヘッドロゴはこの時期特有でカクカクした感じが存在感を放ちます。PUは当時のハイパワーなトレンドを汲んでデザインされた基盤タイプの『HB-R&HB-L』を搭載。但しブリッジポジションはダンカンのSH-5に交換され、フロントのHB-Rのカバーは外されております。両エスカッションが交換され、両Volポットも交換されております。

ボディには拭きキズ、スリキズ、線キズ、打痕があります。ピックガードには全体的に細かい感じでピッキングキズがあります。ボディトップ下部を中心に大小打痕が点在しており、各ノブやトグルスイッチ周りには薄らとスリキズがあります。トグルスイッチ脇のボディサイド部分には米粒大の打痕があり、ジャックプレート周りにも大小打痕があります。またボディエンドのバインディングはスタンドにより部分的に茶色になっており、ボディ上部のバインディングは経年変化により細かいクラックがあります。ボディバックには激しくはないもののバックルによる線キズが広い範囲であります。ネック裏7F中心部分には米粒大の打痕がありますが、プレイに大きく影響する感じではありません。またネック裏全体的に薄らと大小打痕が点在しております。ヘッド周りのバインディンやインレイ部分には経年変化による塗装ギャップがあります。各ハードウェアには使用感やメッキ落ちはあるもののクリーニングされ清潔感があります。

ネックコンディションは問題なく、トラスロッドは締める方向緩める方向に調整可能で、締める方向にまだ回せ調整可能です。フレットには弦跡等は無く残りは8割程です。現状弦高は12F6弦側で約2.0mm、1弦側で約1.5mmで調整されております。

全体的にはパーツの交換や使用感等ありますが、年式や当時の背景を考えると激しい使用感等はなく比較的良好なコンディションといえます。ありがちな派手な使用感やバックルキズ、ベタベタと貼られたステッカー等はなく丁寧に扱われていた印象です。ウェイトも当時らしく4.98キロとヘビーながらも、選ばれしもののみ使いこなせるエクスカリバー感を感じさせます。89年のバースイヤーのカスタムをお探しの方にはまたとないチャンスです!
