10-2800005504002
[SN 224527] USED Gibson USA / Dove Natural Cherry Back & Sides 1964 MOD [10]
We’ve just received a 1964 vintage Gibson Dove that looks like it’s been through a lot!

We’ve received a Gibson Dove that, based on its serial number and the characteristics of its various parts, is believed to date from around 1964.
This instrument has now reached its 62nd year since manufacture.
While its condition certainly cannot be described as “like new” or “near mint,” the numerous traces of repairs made to preserve and maintain it give it the rugged, battle-hardened look of a true veteran—and it’s incredibly cool.

Details of the various repairs
・Nut replacement: Appears to be unbleached cow bone.
・Fret replacement: This involves work on the fret edge binding. Since the last service, repeated fret filing has left the remaining height somewhat low. A refret may be necessary next time.
・Bridge: It was removed and re-glued during the body top restoration work. The dot inlays in the bolt-mounted areas have also been modified. The ABR-1 bridge is a replacement made by machining a nickel bridge with strings from around the 1990s to fit.
・Internal bridge plate: There are signs that it was replaced some time ago.
・Body Top and Back & Sides: There are traces of multiple crack repairs, as well as over-lacquering and finish touch-ups on the body top and around the soundhole. There are numerous signs of re-gluing on the bracing, rim ribbon, and center strip. The gap that formed at the joint of the book-matched top was repaired using a center strip-like reinforcement in some areas. Additionally, the various traces of finish corrections—such as cracks in the finish that occurred throughout the instrument—give it a cool, vintage look.
・Traces of a pickup: There are signs that a soundhole-mounted pickup was installed in the past. The top wood near the center of the soundhole on both the left and right sides shows signs of having been sanded down due to the pickup installation. The output jack mounting hole on the body side near the first string, which was cut during that process, has been filled with wood.
・Truss rod cover: Cracks caused by shrinkage due to aging have been repaired with adhesive.
・Neck heel: An vintage-style Gibson-type strap button has been added.

For more details on the extensive damage throughout the instrument and its cool, distinguished character, please contact the guitar sales staff at our Nagoya Sakae store!

Condition Grade: B: Shows significant scratches and signs of wear, but is in good working condition for normal use

Serial Number: 224527
Year of Manufacture: 1964
Country of Manufacture: USA
Case: Hard case (a standard wooden case from around the 1970s; exterior and interior show damage)
Accessories: None
Truss Rod: Note: Tested up to 60 degrees to the left and right with no issues (some play remaining)
Fret Wear: Within the normal range; slightly low but still playable with sufficient fret height
String Height (Low String Side): 2.5 mm at the 12th fret
String height (treble side): 2.0 mm at the 12th fret
Nut width: 42.5 mm
Neck thickness near the 1st fret: 20.5 mm
Neck thickness near the 12th fret: 23.7 mm
Scale: 642 mm (25.3")
RADIUS: 305 mm (12")
Strings at Setup: D'Addario EJ-16 / .012-.053 set
Repairs and Maintenance Performed: Cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, octave adjustment, action adjustment

* As this is a used item, there may be scratches, dents, and other imperfections that are not clearly visible in the photos or not listed here.
