1964 Fender Stratocaster / Candy Apple Red

The neck date is "2 JAN 64 B" and has a B neck.
The letter at the end of the neck date indicates that "A" is a thin neck, "B" is a regular neck, and "C" is a thin neck.

From 1964, the head decal was changed to a transition logo, but this Strat is a spaghetti logo.

I checked the "POT CODE" more closely and it is printed as "304-6344".
It's a '63 44th week manufacture.
This is the last shipment of "Spaghetti Logo".

The color is Candy Apple Red, but it looks sharper than the gold one because the base is painted silver.

While other custom colors used DuPont paint, the Candy Apple Red was Fender's original color.

Fender would be formally acquired by Columbia Records in January '65, but this guitar, the final model of the spaghetti-logo, is the perfect example of the Strat that Leo Fender had set out to create.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was also a fan of the round-board type necks of this period, and he made a number of historic recordings with them.
