The history of the Fender bass begins with the production of the Precision bass in November 1951; 1950 was the year the electric solid guitar was born, and the Telecaster family, including the Broadcaster and Esquire, was produced. It was also around this time that prototypes of the Stratocaster began to be built Ten years later, in 1960, the Jazz Bass introduced here was a revolutionary bass with a greater variety of tone combinations than the Precision Bass. From 1960 to 1962, the bass featured a two-stage pot called a "stacked knob" and a slab-board fingerboard made of Jacaranda (Brazilian rosewood). In early 1962, the current 3-knob specification (Volume X2, Tone X1) was adopted, and the specification was changed to a round-board Jacaranda. This 1965 Jazz Bass is made of Jacaranda wood with a very rare and impressive bright color on the fingerboard. This is the last model to be made of Jacaranda wood. 1963 and later models have a round convex fingerboard bonding surface on the maple neck, and a concave Jacaranda wood on the fingerboard. The surface to which the frets are attached is square and needs to be ground round. The reason for this change is to reduce the difference in warp between maple and Jacaranda, and also the truss rod will not be on the fingerboard surface, eliminating the need to drill the truss hole twice. In addition, 22 fingerboard grooves were made to divide the fingerboard into 22 sections, which reduced the movement of the woods on each side of the fingerboard.

The pickups are grey-bobbins. Its punchy, sticky sound blends nicely with the round Jacaranda fingerboard to create a unique 1965 sound! 　　The serial number "L99944," according to Gruhn's Guide to VINTAGE GUITAR 【note】, is Fender's last L serial, making it a very rare and valuable instrument!
