Special Semi-Hollowは、トレブル&ベース・ピックアップに58/15 LT、そしてミドル・ピックアップにナロウフィールド・ピックアップを搭載したH-S-H(ハム-"シングル"-ハム)ピックアップ・レイアウトで構成されたモデルです。ナロウフィールド・ピックアップはハム・ノイズを抑えつつ、シングル・コイル・サウンド特有のバイト感と、アンサンブルの中でも抜けるクリアかつパワフルなサウンドを生み出します。
そして5wayブレード・スイッチと58/15 LTのコイル・スプリット用ミニ・トグル・スイッチとの組み合わせにより、あらゆるジャンルにフィットする12種類の豊富なサウンド・ヴァリエーションが得られます。また、トーン・コントロールを絞れば太く甘いサウンド、開けば煌めきあるサウンドが得られ、多彩なサウンドの変化が楽しむことができます。
その他のスペックとしては、メイプル・トップ、マホガニー・バック、22フレット&25インチ・スケールのマホガニー・ネック、ローズウッド指板を採用し、Phase IIIロッキング・チューナー、PRSオリジナル・デザインのGen IIIトレモロ・ユニットを搭載。ハムバッカーとシングル・コイルの音量差を抑えつつ、fホールを持つセミ・ホロウ・ボディ構造は、ギターのトーンに心地良い空気感と深みを与えます。

The Special Semi-Hollow model consists of an H-S-H (hum-"single"-ham) pickup layout with a 58/15 LT treble and bass pickup and a narrowfield pickup in the middle pickup. The narrow-field pickups reduce hum noise and produce a clear, powerful sound with the bite characteristic of a single-coil sound that can be carried through an ensemble.
Combined with a 5-way blade switch and a mini-toggle switch for the 58/15 LT coil split, this gives you 12 different sound variations to fit any genre. The tone control can be turned down for a thicker, sweeter sound, or opened up for a shimmering sound, allowing for a wide variety of sound changes.
Other specs include a maple top, mahogany back, mahogany neck with 22 frets and 25" scale, rosewood fingerboard, Phase III locking tuners, and a PRS original design Gen III tremolo unit. The semi-hollow body construction with f-holes gives the guitar's tone a pleasant air and depth, while reducing the volume difference between humbuckers and single coils.
For 2024, PRS Guitars is updating the tuning pegs used on many Core models to improve the sound aspect. The new wing buttons are lighter than the previous metal peg buttons and produce longer sustain and a more musical sound, while reducing the loss of string vibration.
