The PRS Swamp Ash Special features a swamp ash body and offers a unique look and range of sounds within the Bolt-On series. It features an H-S-H (humbucker/“single”/humbucker) pickup configuration, with two 58/15 LT pickups and a PRS Narrowfield in the middle position.The Narrowfield pickup retains a humbucker structure while producing the crisp, defined sound characteristic of single-coil pickups. The control section features a combination—a first for this model—of volume, tone, a 5-way blade switch, and two mini-toggle switches for coil tapping. This setup enables 12 diverse sound variations, ranging from a rich, sweet tone when the tone control is rolled back to a bright, sparkling sound with a solid core when the tone control is turned all the way up.

Featuring a 22-fret, 25-inch scale maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard, a PRS original tremolo, and Phase III tuners, one of this model’s major attractions is the absence of volume difference when switching between the humbucker and single-coil pickups—a common issue in models equipped with both.

With its tight low end and transparent yet sweet high end—characteristics that produce a pleasant, twangy sound—the PRS Swamp Ash Special is a model that will excel across a wide range of genres, from country to blues to jazz.
