The "FG9," the pinnacle of the FG series, is meticulously handcrafted one by one by skilled artisans at the Yamaha factory in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. From this premier dreadnought—a fusion of the ideal sound sought in acoustic guitars and Japanese aesthetics—comes the "FG9R," featuring rosewood sides and back for a rich, resonant tone!

The "FG9R" features carefully selected solid Indian rosewood for the sides and back, delivering a superb wide-range sound that produces deep, rich bass and sparkling high frequencies with endless sustain. The top is crafted from solid Adirondack spruce, renowned as a premium acoustic guitar wood for its hardness and light weight.It boasts the overwhelming dynamics and quick attack characteristic of Adirondack, yet it never sounds forced, resonating with a supple, natural tone. While offering ample volume, the bass never becomes overly boomy, achieving an extremely refined tonal balance that, true to its concept, “gently accompanies the singer’s voice.”

The biggest innovation in terms of construction is the adoption of an innovative "bolt-on construction" that moderately decouples the neck from the body. Combined with a design that increases the thickness of the back to maximize its performance as a reflector, this concentrates the vibrational energy of the strings and body onto the top, dramatically enhancing the acoustic radiation originating from the top.It achieves an unprecedented balance between the “powerful volume” characteristic of the Dreadnought style and the “crystal-clear clarity” traditional to Yamaha guitars. With its rich tone and abundant sustain, it exudes an overwhelming presence not only in strummed accompaniment but also in single-note lead guitar work.Combined with smooth, stress-free playability, it boasts supreme playability that makes you want to play up to the high positions, even without a cutaway.

Its appearance embodies the uncompromising craftsmanship and Japanese aesthetic found in every detail, true to its "Made in Japan" heritage. The inner label visible through the soundhole is luxuriously crafted from "washi" paper.The fretboard position marks feature a delicate design reminiscent of Japanese marquetry, while the soundhole rosette and body lines are adorned with “wooden rope inlays” and “rope binding (combined with ebony)” that evoke traditional Japanese shimenawa ropes, exuding a dignified elegance befitting a work of art.

The entire body is finished with nitrocellulose lacquer (gloss finish) prioritizing acoustic properties, while the back of the neck features a semi-gloss finish that ensures smooth fingering.
