The "L" Series, Yamaha's flagship acoustic guitar line—the "LL16 ARE Natural"!

The “L Series” is a legendary line of acoustic guitars from Yamaha, beloved by top players worldwide as the brand’s pinnacle of craftsmanship. With a history spanning over 40 years, this standard model embodies Yamaha’s craftsmanship, which has continuously evolved through the pursuit of the sounds and exceptional playability demanded by each era.

The body style features the traditional “Original Jumbo Body,” which produces a powerful sense of volume and rich bass tones. It boasts a luxurious all-solid construction, with a top made of carefully selected Ingleman spruce and sides and back crafted from high-quality rosewood.
The top is generously treated with Yamaha’s proprietary wood modification technology, “A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement),” which is also applied to higher-end models (such as the LL26 and LL36). By precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure without the use of chemicals, this process achieves deep harmonics reminiscent of a well-played vintage guitar, along with a rich, fast-attacking tone.
Furthermore, the bracing design features non-scalloped X-bracing, redesigned into a low-profile square shape. By enhancing the precision at the intersections, it achieves a tight, balanced, and clear resonance.

The neck features a robust five-piece construction combining mahogany and rosewood, ensuring excellent rigidity against warping and twisting. The neck taper—slightly thinner near the 10th fret—and the smoothly chamfered rolled fingerboard edges provide exceptional grip, from chord strums in the low positions to single-note leads in the high positions.Furthermore, practical playability has been thoroughly pursued through a re-evaluation of string action balance, a design that widens the spacing between strings, and the inclusion of a double-action truss rod that accommodates both forward and backward bowing.

The electronics feature lightweight “passive-type pickups (SRT piezo elements)” as standard equipment, which do not compromise the body’s natural resonance. Since the design does not include a preamp or battery inside the body, you can achieve a high-quality line-out signal directly for stage performances or recording simply by connecting a shielded cable—all while preserving the pure, natural resonance of the acoustic sound. With the luxurious feel provided by its gold hardware and ebony fingerboard, this is a supreme instrument you can rely on for a lifetime.
