In 1976, young people all over Japan turned to America! A D-28 made that same year!"

This 1976 D-28 features a non-scalloped and non-forward-shifted brace, Grover rotomatic pegs, black pickguard, square rod, and blue case. 1976 was the year of America's bicentennial. Popeye magazine was launched, and young people all over Japan focused their attention on American fashion, sports, cars, and music. Martin guitars were also introduced in the Made in U.S.A. catalog published the previous year, and like Levi's jeans and Red Wing boots, Martin guitars became one of the most coveted American items. This D-28 is a representative model of Martin guitars.
The top spruce has impressive bear-crows on the upper left and lower right. There are some dents, scratches, weather checks, and cloudy paint, but there are no Martin cracks and no noticeable damage. The neck angle has been adjusted, refretted, saddle replaced, nut raised, and pickguard replaced at a partner repair store. The pickguard has been painted on the surface to make it look similar to the original. A strap pin has been retrofitted to the heel of the neck, and the bridge pin has been replaced with a recent one. The sound and playability of this guitar are perfect.
The characteristic of the products of the time was a fat sound with horsepower. This particular instrument is no exception. The bass is tight and the balance of each register is good.
This is a D-28 from the Blue Case era. This is the perfect item for playing folk, rock, and bluegrass music of that era.
