The tape echo was the first effect pedal capable of producing the Yamabiko effect, and its warm, dynamic sound attracted many musicians.
The tape echo is an extremely simple machine, with a motor that spins magnetic tape, a recording head that records phrases, and a playback head that produces an echo sound.
Therefore, it is susceptible to structural effects, and its sound changes depending on conditions, motor rotation speed, and friction. The sound changes depending on the condition, the speed of the motor, and the way friction is applied, which also adds a pleasant shimmering effect to the sound.
Original tape echoes are rare on the market.

This RE-101 was sold as a low-priced model of the famous RE-201, and although it lacks EQ and spring reverb, the tape section is the same, making it a simple and easy-to-use echo model.
Head cleaning, tape replacement (genuine), and other maintenance have been done.
