The McCarty family was born out of passion and precision. The McCarty family was created by combining a passion for vintage appointments and tones with the precision of modern guitar-building techniques. Whether you want rich, "humbucker" tones or nuanced, sweet single-coil sounds, the McCarty Singlecut 594 offers seamless, unrestricted access to 58/15 LT+ pickups and a tone control with push/pull coil tap. The layout of the electronics, some key specs, and PRS's signature craftsmanship come together to ensure that no matter which position on the neck you play, the guitar is always in tune and intonated precisely, giving you the feeling that you've been playing it for years.

Meticulously crafted to bring out the best in playing comfort and warm, vintage tone, the McCarty Singlecut 594's main specs include a 22-fret, 24.594" scale, bound Pattern Vintage neck with a slightly thicker back for richer tone and sustain, and a Titanium neck with a 24.594" scale. The 58/15 LT+ pickups are mounted with 58/15 LT+ treble and bass pickups that have undergone the TCI (tuned capacitance and inductance) process, vintage character. The bridge is a zinc alloy two-piece stoptail bridge with brass saddles and studs for additional sound, and the tuners are vintage style.

In the late 1980s, Paul Reed Smith asked Ted McCarty to consult on guitar design and manufacturing techniques. In 1994, Ted released the first McCarty, a product of the techniques and knowledge he had learned from McCarty, as well as Ted's own experience as a guitar builder.

In 2024, PRS Guitars updated the tuning pegs used on many Core models to improve the sound, and the new wing buttons, designed after the bird inlays on the 12th fret, are lighter than the previous metal peg buttons. The new wing buttons are lighter than the previous metal peg buttons and produce longer sustain and a more musical sound, while reducing the loss of string vibration. The use of non-locking tuners on models without tremolo also contributes to further weight savings.
