This is the discontinued HD-28V. It features vintage-like specifications such as forward-shifted scalloped bracing, herringbone binding, slotted square and diamond markers, open gear pegs, modified V-shaped neck with 42.9mm nut width, and long saddle. These specifications are similar to those of the current HD-28, but the modified V-shaped neck and long saddle are not used on the HD-28.
There is evidence that a contact pickup was installed in the past, and an end pin jack is still attached, but it is a dummy.
There are a few minor dents and light scratches on the top, but they are not noticeable unless you hold it in your hand and stare at it with a light source reflecting off it. There are some scratches on the sides, some scuffs and belt buckle scratches on the back, a thin trace of a strap or some other cloth near the neck on the bass string side of the back, some satin paint shine and slight dents on the back of the neck, and a slight smudge on the peg plating, but none of these are significant. The back of the neck has some satin paint flaking and a few dents. There is a bump in the paint film at the seam between the binding and the wood, and there is a gap in the back binding at the neck and heel. These are also not significantly noticeable. In total, we can say that it maintains a relatively good appearance.
The neck is in proper condition, and the truss rod has been confirmed to operate at 60 degrees left and right. The frets have been rubbed together and are not dented, and more than 80% of the height remains. Both playability and sound are perfect.
The resonance is rich and resonant, which is typical of the D-28 series. The sound is well-balanced from bass to treble without any bias. This guitar can be used for a wide range of applications, from bluegrass lead guitar and other technical performances to singing accompaniment and solo styles. We recommend this guitar.
