We’ve just received a 2022 Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1954 Les Paul Custom Ultra Light Aged Ebony!
This guitar features the "Ultra Light Aged" finish, featuring scratches and weather checking applied by Murphy Lab!

Based on the 1954 Les Paul Custom, it features a mahogany body and neck, along with an ebony fingerboard.
The neck shape is a 1954-style profile, offering a thick, comfortable grip that feels easy to hold.
The finish is the classic Ebony color.
Paired with gold hardware, this makes for a stylish, high-end instrument.

The finish is Murphy Lab’s “Ultra Light Aged” specification. This is the lightest of Murphy Lab’s four aging levels, featuring weather checking applied throughout the body. The instrument has been played extensively, showing signs of wear such as chipped paint, scratches, and dents, but this patina contributes to its unique character.

It is equipped with original pickups: the "Custom Staple" (affectionately known as Alnico 5) in the front and a soapbar-style "P-90" in the rear.
This unique combination delivers a powerful attack when distorted, while also offering a sparkling sound reminiscent of single-coil pickups—a signature tone that is truly distinctive to this setup.

Regarding its condition, in addition to weather checking and scratches from the "Ultra Light Aged" finish, there are quite a few areas where the paint has peeled off, as well as paint cracks, scratches, and dents.
Additionally, there are areas on the back of the neck and near the joint that have turned white due to scuffing.
Although this guitar shows significant signs of use, it does not affect playability or sound, making it a great choice for those who appreciate a well-played look!
