USED Hofner / 500/1 Vintage 62 [03]

We’ve just received a used Hofner violin bass—an iconic model that remains incredibly popular to this day!

Its origins trace back to a stringed instrument workshop founded in the 1880s—the long-established German manufacturer "Hofner."
The brand is widely known for its violin-shaped basses, which Paul McCartney has loved since before his debut.

This particular model is the "500/1 Vintage 62," a reissue that recreates the specifications from around 1962—including a smaller escutcheon and a long-type tailpiece—based on the company’s flagship "500/1" model.
Inside the cavity, you can see the signature of Thomas St hlein, a figure who could be called Hofner’s master builder, responsible for assembly and setup at the factory in Germany.

With its hollow-body construction, this guitar produces a warm, woody, and mellow sound—a tone that sets it apart from classic styles like the JB and PB, making it a truly captivating instrument.
The neck is currently in good condition, and the truss rod functions without issue.

There are scratches on the body, dents and paint chips on the tip of the headstock, and some tarnish on the metal parts.
Additionally, the tips of the knobs were chipped when the guitar arrived, so they have been replaced. (The original knobs are included.)
