1978 Gibson ES-335TD Wine Red

The ES-335 is a long-running model that has been in continuous production since its debut in 1958.

This instrument was built in 1978 during the Norlin era.
It features a laminated maple body, a 3-piece maple neck, and a rosewood fingerboard.
It features a set-neck construction with a short tenon. There is a volute on the back of the nut.

The headstock features a Gibson logo with a closed "O" and "i" dots, along with a crown inlay, and is equipped with tuners bearing the Norlin Flower stamp. The original Gotoh locking tuners had been replaced, causing the bush holes to widen, so spacers were used to restore them to their original state.
The bound neck, featuring block inlays, has had its nut and frets replaced, and the fingerboard has been leveled.

It is equipped with two stamped, numbered PAF pickups; while the date on the pots could not be read, they may have been replaced.

The hardware is chrome-plated and includes a Nashville-style Tune-o-Matic bridge, a stop tailpiece, and sombrero knobs.

Overall, the guitar shows significant signs of use and has numerous scratches and dents; however, none are severe enough to affect playability, and it functions perfectly. Since the frets have been replaced, they have good height with approximately 70% of their original material remaining. We have confirmed that the truss rod turns 60 degrees in both directions.
