For customers residing in Japan
We have received a 1973 Guild S-100 NB Natural.

Founded by craftsmen who had split from Epiphone—which was based in Brooklyn in the 1950s—the company has earned high acclaim primarily for its production of flat-top and archtop acoustic guitars.
Guild has maintained close ties with musicians and has introduced a wide variety of models to the market. Among acoustic guitars, models like the D-55 and F-512, and among electric guitars, the Starfire Series, S-100 Polara, and S-200 T-Bird have been beloved by many musicians.

This model is the S-100, an electric solid-body guitar that debuted in 1970.
It features a solid mahogany body and neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and a set-in neck. Because the body shape features a double cutaway similar to the Gibson SG, it is also known as the "Guild SG."

The headstock features the Guild logo along with "Chesterfield" inlays and is equipped with chrome-plated Grover Rotomatic-style tuners. The 6th string peg post is made of nickel, leading us to believe it has likely been replaced.
The bound neck, with a nut width of 41mm, features pearl block inlays and narrow frets, and utilizes the "Extra-Fast Very Thin Neck" profile, which is thin and offers high playability.
The body features an asymmetrical double cutaway and is contoured to fit comfortably against the body when held.

It is equipped with two Guild-original "New Guild Humbucking Pickups," along with a 2-Vol/2-Tone/3-Way Selector and a Phase Switch.
The back of the pickups is engraved with “8·27·73”and "73-5-14" are engraved on the back of the pickups. Based on the pot dates—"304-7310," "304-7309," "XXX-X310," and "XXX-73X9"—it is clear that Stackpole pots manufactured in 1973 were used. Since the solder is virgin, the electronics can be determined to be original.

The model name “NB” stands for “Natural Boy,” and the finish is natural. Around this time, models with the same name but featuring an oak leaf engraved on the body were also produced.

As for the condition of this instrument, it shows significant signs of use, including scratches, dents, and buckle marks from aging, and there is significant paint peeling around the contour of the body back.
The frets were low from the start, but due to wear from use, they are now approximately 0.6 mm high; however, the guitar is currently playable without any buzzing. We have confirmed that the truss rod turns 60 degrees in both directions.

* Due to the nature of this instrument, we cannot transfer this item to other Ishibashi Music stores. Please direct all inquiries to Finest Guitars.
