Fender Japan TL69-115 All Rosewood Telecaster “JV Serial” Natural Rosewood -1982–1984-

We’ve just received the TL69-115 All Rosewood Telecaster, manufactured between 1982 and 1984 with a “JV” prefix followed by a 4-digit serial number!

The TL69-115 was produced by Fender Japan based on the all-rosewood Telecaster famously used by The Beatles’ guitarist George Harrison during the Roof Top Concert.
Although it first appeared in the catalog in 1984, it appears to have been produced even earlier. Based on the characteristics typical of early Fender Japan models—such as “gray bobbin pickups,” the absence of “MADE IN JAPAN” markings, and a “JV + 4-digit serial number” on the bridge—it is believed to be one of the earliest examples from the 1982–1984 period.

The body features a rosewood/maple/rosewood “pancake” body with a semi-hollow construction, and the neck is made of rosewood, matching the body.

The headstock features only the “Fender” logo, Kluson-style six-shaft tuners, and a seagull-shaped string guide.
The rosewood neck, featuring 21 vintage-style frets, has block position marks; there are signs of crack repair on a portion of the fingerboard end (top surface). The neck pocket appears to have a stamp that looks like a “B,” but it is difficult to make out clearly, and no other markings on the neck could be confirmed.

The pickups consist of a VINTAGE PU with a gray bobbin and black-and-white vinyl wire in the front position, and a VINTAGE PU with a gray bobbin and yellow-and-black cross-wound wire in the rear position. It is equipped with MASTER VOL, MASTER TONE, and a 3-WAY SELECTOR controls.The potentiometers are brown ceramic “D 25V .05 M 100V” units with pot dates “XXXX227” and “1378245”; based on the condition of the solder, it can be determined that the original 1982 CTS potentiometers are in use.
Based on the 3-way brass bridge saddles and other specifications, we have determined the model to be the “TL69-115.”

While there are some scratches and dents due to age and use, approximately 70% of the frets remain, and we have confirmed that the truss rod rotates 60 degrees in both directions, so the guitar remains in good condition. There is some paint peeling on the neck pocket on the G-string side.
