USED Hofner / 5000/1 Deluxe Bass Natural [05]

The 5000/1 DELUXE, positioned as the pinnacle of Hefner violin basses, is now in stock.

The gold parts, black pearloid control panel, and head inlay give this one a luxurious feel.
Many of them are equipped with gold versions of staple pickups, but this one features a simple cover surface, similar to the PAF style mounted on Gibson's pickups.
The pickups themselves are made by Schaller and have a date-like notation on the back, and since they are marked 91, it is highly likely that they were made in 1991.

The pegs are also mounted with M6, a rotomatic masterpiece also made by Schaller.
Gold parts made by Schaller at that time are said to be 20K plated, which is a more beautiful finish than other companies' gold parts, and is a perfect choice for the top-of-the-line model 5000/1.
The parts were probably easily procured in Germany.

The side backs are beautiful flame maple, and although bird's eye, quilt, etc. can be seen on other pieces, flame maple is the best match for violin basses.

The pickups themselves are more powerful than the original 500/1, but the low, mid, and high ranges are all well balanced, making the sound very manageable.
