We are pleased to announce the arrival of a 1976 Gibson MK-53 Sunburst.

The "Mark Series" was introduced in the mid-1970s, and all the models disappeared before the beginning of the 1980s.
Acoustic engineering authorities Michael Kasha and Richard Schneider were invited to design these acoustic guitars, resulting in a design full of originality that had nothing in common with the previous lineup.

The unique construction was all designed based on acoustic engineering, and the impedance-matching bridge, tapered and elaborately shaped soundhole, Kasha bracing, curved neck block, and other features, not only on the exterior but also in the internal construction, set Gibson apart from the competition. It can be seen that these were Gibson's key products at that time.

As a result, the Mark series was not accepted by the market, and as mentioned above, all models were discontinued before the beginning of the 1980s.
However, the impact of the "Mark Series" on the industry was by no means small, and it is said that this guitar design inspired many different guitar makers and guitar designs.

We are pleased to announce the arrival of a 1976 MK-53 in sunburst color.
It has a spruce top, maple back, sides, and neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, 16-3/16 body, and 25-1/2 scale.

The lining gluing in the body has been corrected and the bridge gluing has been corrected. There is a paint crack at the seam between the neck heel and body side, so the possibility of a neck reset cannot be ruled out.
The neck is in flat condition, but the string height is high.

The body is also in good condition for its age throughout, with some scratches and dings, including a paint crack at the center of the body back (heel cap side), but it is in relatively clean condition.
The sound is unique to the MK with a spotlight on the midrange, and it is a responsive instrument with a solid sound.
