A 2002 Suhr Standard Quilted Maple Top Trans Blue has arrived!

This Suhr Standard was ordered in 2002 through the import agent, Okada International. At that time, mass-produced models like those available today did not exist; each guitar was built as a custom order, making this model comparable to what we now call the Suhr Custom.

As this guitar showed signs of wear from approximately 25 years of use, it has been refurbished using current parts to restore it as closely as possible to its original specifications from that era. It is not merely a repaired instrument, but a valuable piece that revives the charm of early 2000s Suhr for today’s audience.

It features a basswood body paired with a beautiful quilted maple top and a vibrant Trans Blue finish. Additionally, it is accented with scraped binding, giving it both a luxurious feel and a striking presence. The neck is crafted from a single piece of birdseye maple with a beautiful grain pattern, and the Even C Slim profile combined with an 11"–14" compound radius ensures comfortable playability.

The frets have been replaced with 6100-size stainless steel frets. The bridge is equipped with a Gotoh VS100, identical to the original, and the rest of the instrument has been restored using genuine Suhr parts sourced through Okada International. Its appeal lies in the fact that it enhances practicality while preserving the atmosphere of the era.

It is equipped with SSV, V63+, and SSH+ pickups. Featuring a neck humbucker with rich harmonics, a vintage-style single-coil sound, and a powerful bridge humbucker, it handles a wide range of tones from clean to high-gain. The push/push coil-split function allows for versatile sound shaping.

Weighing just 3.20 kg, it’s lightweight and comfortable even during long performances. The well-balanced tone characteristic of basswood is another highlight.

This is a rare instrument featuring the distinctive vibe of the early 2000s—unfound in current Suhr models—and a beautiful quilted maple top. Carefully restored by Okada International, it is truly worthy of being called a “revived Suhr Standard.”

It has been meticulously set up by the importer, Okada International, so its excellent playability goes without saying. Although significant repair costs were incurred, the result is a guitar of such high quality that you will fully appreciate its value.

While there are overall signs of wear—such as scratches and dents—appropriate for its age, these too are part of its charm, reflecting over 20 years of history. This is a guitar that allows you to fully enjoy the distinctive character of a high-end instrument from the early 2000s, offering a unique experience different from modern models.

Suhr Standard Quilted Maple Top Trans Blue 2002
