A 2026 Gibson Historic Collection 1968 Les Paul Custom has arrived!!

Although the Les Paul evolved into the Les Paul SG in 1961, making the SG Gibson’s main solid-body guitar of the 1960s, growing calls for the Les Paul’s return—driven by the influence of renowned guitarists and the music scene of the late 1960s—led to its re-release in 1968.
This instrument is a reissue model that meticulously recreates the specifications from the very first year of that re-production run.

While the 1950s Custom featured a mahogany body, the reissued Custom was modified to use a two-piece maple top and mahogany back body, similar to the 1950s Burst models.

The body features a two-piece plain maple top, a mahogany back, and a glossy nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
The mahogany neck is shaped to the Authentic '68 Medium C-Shape, which should suit a wide range of players, and the fingerboard is, of course, made of ebony.
It features medium-jumbo frets, ensuring a comfortable playing experience.
It is equipped with Kluson VX-501 tuners, commonly known as “waffle-back” tuners.

The pickups are the 1968 T-Top Reissue models, which were introduced in 2026.
These pickups recreate the “T-Top” model used from 1966 to 1979; they utilize Alnico 5 magnets and, compared to the Custombucker (Alnico 3), produce a brighter, tighter, and more aggressive tone.
With additional details like the inclusion of a Black Beauty capacitor, this is a guitar that offers a delightful level of authenticity down to the finest details.

Although there are some picking scratches on the pickguard, there is almost no damage overall, and it maintains a beautiful appearance and is in excellent playing condition.

It comes with the original hard case, certificate of authenticity, Pre-Packlist (2/20/26), selector backplate, and tags/paperwork.
