A Hummingbird featuring a thermally aged & ultra-thin VOS finish!

In 2020, Gibson Acoustic underwent a major lineup overhaul, and the “Custom Shop Collection” garnered significant attention. In addition to the vintage reissue models Gibson has long specialized in, a diverse range of models—including Custom models incorporating modern specifications—were added to the regular lineup.
This model is the 1960 Hummingbird (straight saddle configuration) from the “Custom Shop Historic Reissue Collection,” which adheres to vintage specifications.

The body is, of course, all-solid, featuring Sitka spruce for the top and mahogany for the sides and back.
The top has undergone a “Thermally Aged” treatment, which plays a key role in reproducing that vintage sound. This new technology “replicates the characteristics of wood as it ages over time, the loss of natural oils from the wood’s interior, and the process by which the wood itself matures into a higher quality.”
The pickguard, featuring a hummingbird design, is a cast pickguard based on vintage manufacturing methods, with the design carved into the surface.
Hand-scalloped X-bracing and a glue-in dovetail neck joint are familiar features.
It features a thin lacquer finish—half the thickness of a standard finish—and is built to V.O.S. (Vintage Original Spec) specifications.
It delivers the expansive sound characteristic of a square-shoulder design, with excellent response; even when played lightly, the entire body resonates.
With a vintage-like finish in every aspect—looks, sound, and feel—this is a guitar that truly makes you think, “This is Gibson.”
There is some slight warping and bulging around the bridge, but it shows minimal signs of use and is in relatively good condition.
It has been cleaned, fully adjusted, and had its frets leveled since arrival.
