The Mahogany model of the LL16ARE series features a top made of carefully selected solid Engelmann spruce and a back and sides made of high-quality solid mahogany. It delivers a clear, warm sound.

A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. [Acoustic Resonance Enhancement] is a wood modification technology independently researched and developed by Yamaha.
Applying this technology to the guitar body wood produces a rich resonance reminiscent of a guitar that has been played for many years.
Without using any chemicals, and by precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the process creates changes in the wood over a short period that mimic the aging process of wood left to mature for a long time after being cut. This improves sound transmission and vibration efficiency, promoting the extension of mid-to-low frequencies, increasing the attack of high frequencies, and accelerating their decay.
This results in a well-balanced, mature, and warm sound with minimal harsh overtones.

New "Non-Scalloped X-Bracing" Design
We have further refined the Non-Scalloped X-Bracing structure adopted in the "L Series" through the latest analysis and modeling technologies combined with skilled craftsmanship.
This maximizes the natural resonance of the wood, delivering deeper, richer mid-to-low tones.

Neck Shape for Superior Playability
We have made improvements across every detail, from string spacing and action height to the fingerboard binding and neck taper.
The result is a new neck shape that fits the guitarist perfectly. The newly designed neck delivers a stable grip and smooth playability from the high to the low positions.
All models feature a double-action truss rod that works in both directions (forward and backward). This allows for more precise neck adjustments.

5-Ply Neck
Features a 5-layer neck construction made of mahogany and rosewood.
The 5-layer neck structure is resistant to warping and twisting, maintaining stable neck condition.

LL Body
Yamaha’s traditional body style is characterized by its rich volume, wide dynamic range, and perfectly balanced resonance.
Its beautiful, crystal-clear sound has been refined and perfected by artists around the world.

Equipped with passive pickups
The "L16 Series" is equipped with newly developed passive-type pickups.
A piezo element is installed under the saddle for each string. Since this passive system requires no power from the guitar body and does not require a preamp or battery compartment to be attached to the guitar itself, it faithfully reproduces the dynamic sound of the L Series while preserving the acoustic guitar’s original appearance.
While minimizing the impact of the pickups on the natural sound, they still deliver a distinct presence even when playing in a band.
