The model I ordered this time features a rare zebrano (zebra wood) top and ash back! As the name suggests, zebra wood is a beautiful type of wood characterized by its zebra-like stripes.Its brown hue gives it the appearance of a tabby cat’s fur, and the natural color brings out the warmth of the wood—a look that’s simply irresistible. Additionally, because it’s a hard wood, it’s known for its long sustain and a unique, well-defined, and easy-to-play sound—so much so that it has its own dedicated following even among high-end bass materials.

It also features a clear Plexi pickguard that enhances playability during slapping while showcasing the wood’s grain and color—and it adds to the bass’s crisp, JB-style look. While the core specs—ash body, maple neck, and pearwood fingerboard—are classic and user-friendly, the custom specifications that refine key details really shine.The optional black hardware also contributes to the chic and rugged aesthetic.

Featuring original electronics hardware such as the “Velvetrone Gallant” pickups and the “Velvetrone Musashi Nitoryu 3” preamp, this model brings Mayones’ vision of the ideal Jabba even closer to reality. In particular, the Musashi Nitoryu preamp is equipped with both AUX and PHONE jacks, enabling a true “two-sword style” performance with both amp output and headphone output.

Of course, it also features an active/passive switch, enabling a wide range of tone-shaping possibilities. While it’s a jazz bass-style instrument, its unique combination of 24 frets, a 34.25-inch scale length, and a 19mm nut width is another hallmark of the Jabba.
