Empress Effects’ Heavy is a dual-channel high-gain distortion pedal offering a wide range of variations. With two controls—Weight and Low—you can shape the sound to produce a powerful low-end that delivers the heaviest distortion tones.

From rock distortion to 1980s metal sounds and modern, heavy distortion for down-tuned guitars, this is a professional-grade tool that takes high-gain distortion to the extreme. While delivering raw, high-gain distortion, its high-quality design—a hallmark of Empress Effects—ensures a clear, singing high-end that stands out even in an ensemble.

It also features an excellent noise gate function that keeps the gaps between choppy riffs silent.
heavy&heavier: Dual-channel high-gain distortion.

The Empress Heavy features two independent channels. While both channels are designed with the same tone profile, the “heavier” channel allows for higher-gain settings than the “heavy” channel.

You can intentionally make the voicings similar and use one channel as a booster for solo guitar, or use the “Mid Range Control” to vary the voicing of both channels and create distinct channel sounds, enabling a wide variety of sound-shaping possibilities.
The “Weight” control expands the low end.

Designed specifically for ground-shaking “low frequencies,” the “Weight” control is a secret weapon that delivers a tight, big-bottom sound. This low-end, unique to the Heavy, has broken new ground in loud distortion.

Furthermore, the two-band EQ section for high and low frequencies, shared by both channels, allows for fine-tuning of the final output. Since you can tailor the tone to your specific amp and cabinet, you have complete control over the sound shaping of heavy, high-gain sounds.
Features a 2-mode noise gate.

It features a built-in, high-performance noise gate unique to the Empress, with a switch to select between “Natural” and “Aggressive” modes. You’ll experience a noise gate with incredibly responsive tracking, even with intense high-gain tones.
