USED FERNANDES / FPB-70 Type Burny Olds 1977 [4.53 kg / Manufactured in 1977]

This is a 1977 Fernandes Burny Olds FPB-70 VBS model (non-catalog specifications) featuring a script logo.

This is an FPB-70 model (the FPB-75N features a natural-finish maple fingerboard) featuring the cursive Fernandes logo, predating the 1978 change to the so-called “stone logo” design.It features a 4-piece Silver Heart body finished with the ultra-thin lacquer finish (V-finish) typical of high-end models of that era, a one-piece maple neck, a wooden finger rest (includes pickup fence and bridge cover), and a 3-ply tortoiseshell-pattern pickguard.

Highly regarded overseas as a “Japan Vintage” model, this 1970s Fernandes model with the script logo boasts a tight, resonant sound that is its greatest appeal.

The pickguard hole on the 4-string side has never been used. There are signs of wear (discoloration, paint thinning, minor scratches and scuffs, picking marks, buckle marks, peeling plating on the knobs, tarnish, pitting, and rust on metal parts and screws, and other cosmetic damage).

Set up upon arrival (cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, octave adjustment, string height adjustment, and fret leveling). The originally low fret tops have been leveled to a height that remains low but poses no issues for playing. The truss rod can be adjusted both ways (tightening and loosening) and has been tested to operate within a range of ±60°.

Condition Grade: B+: Some scratches are present, but the instrument is suitable for normal use.
