USED Kimberly / Apollo Green Burst [3.13 kg] 1960s Kimberly Tesco/Kawai [08]

This is the "Apollo" model from the "Kimberly" series—a 1960s Japanese "bizarre" guitar—that Tesco/Kawai sold overseas.

It features a double-cutaway shape with wild-looking horns, a laminated neck, a 6-in-line tuner set integrated into the plate, a string tension bar that runs through the back of the headstock, a 0th fret, a roller-type bridge, four pickups each with its own ON-OFF switch, and a 4-volume, 1-tone configuration. The pickguard is adorned with flower inlays.

The tremolo arm is missing. It shows signs of wear commensurate with its age (minor scratches, scuffs, scuffs, wipe marks, picking marks, discoloration, clouding, pitting, and rust on metal parts and screws, among other cosmetic damage).

Due to the guitar’s construction, adjusting the roller saddle inward to accommodate the 1st string will cause it to no longer pass over the pickup’s design pole pieces (this does not affect volume). Since parts such as resin peg bushings and pickups are no longer available, the warranty is limited to what can be covered using current replacement parts.

The guitar was set up upon arrival (nut slot correction, cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, octave adjustment, and string action adjustment). The frets, which are naturally on the lower side, show some wear marks but remain at a height that does not interfere with playing. The truss rod has been tested up to 60 degrees in both directions and is in good condition (slightly tight).
