Steve himself named this signature model "PIA: Paradise in Art", positioning it as "the evolution of the JEM".
The body is made of alder wood like the JEM, but the body edge, contours, and horns are designed with new attention to detail.
The symbolic "Petal Grip" was designed to resemble petals nestled together.
PIA neck with 5pc maple/walnut construction, shaped like Steve's favorite grip as well as JEM.
PIA Blossom inlay" is the artwork that symbolizes the Steve Vai model as well as the grip.
Rosewood fingerboard with luminous Luminlay side position marks.
Scalloped fingerboard (21-24 frets)
Scalloped fingerboard with scooped high frets.
The frets are jumbo size stainless steel frets with Prestige fret edge treatment.
USA-made DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups" were designed for the PIA.
Based on Steve's recent tonal preferences, these pickups are specially designed for smoother highs, scooped mids, and defined lows.
Equipped with a high pass filter (operated by pushing and pulling the volume knob)
Edge tremolo bridge
The Edge is the original Ibanez tremolo that Steve has been using for over 30 years.
Magnetic tremolo cavity plate" that can be attached and removed without the need for mounting screws.
The cavity plate on the back of the tremolo, which features a petal design, is screwless and can be easily attached and removed.
Ultralite Tremolo Arm
The grip is made of lightweight and durable carbon graphite, and its light weight and thick, easy-to-grip grip allow for delicate arm manipulation.
