The popular Tokai LS with a scalloped finish that you would never expect.

Made in 1980 from the serial number and the "Love Rock" logo on the head top suggests this is a transitional model from 1980 to 1981. Plain maple top and mahogany 1pcs back. Its finish is lacquer. Neck is mahogany with rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard is scalloped and the position marks on the top are gone. The side position marks are barely remaining. Both PUs are original and have the Gotoh stamp on the back. The PU covers are removable, which was unique to this period. The control cavity has original conductive paint, and the wiring is original.

The body has wipe scratches, scuffs, dents, and paint reactions. The pickguard has a fine feel and overall picking scratches. The center ply of the body top maple has some light paint attraction. There is a toe scratch on the right side of the toggle switch and a scratch on the lower right edge of the body top. There are also small and large dents mainly on the left side of the body top tailpiece. On the lower right side of the body, there is a 4cm square parallelogram shaped mark where the paint has reacted with the strap. There is a thin layer of burn marks around the strap pin at the end of the body, and a 2cm line of paint cracks on the side of the strap pin. There is also a thin paint reaction on the left neck of the body side, and there are some small and large dents scattered on the other side of the body. On the body back, there is a thumb-sized mark on the lower right side of the back panel where a solvent was used to remove a sticker. There are some small and large dents, scratches, and peeling paint around the perimeter of the back of the body. There are some pea-sized dents scattered around the back of the neck from the 7th floor to the high position, and there are some linear scratches around the 1st and 2nd strings on the 4th floor. Paint is peeling at the tip of the head, and there is a thin layer of white around the head logo. There is a 3cm long binding peeled off on the neck side. Each hardware has some deterioration of plating, some chinks, and some signs of use, but it has a good atmosphere.

The neck condition is fine, and the truss rod can be adjusted in the direction of tightening or loosening, and can still be adjusted by turning it slightly in the direction of tightening. There are no string marks on the frets and about 70% of the strings are left. Currently, the string height is adjusted at about 2.0mm on the 12F 6th string side and about 1.5mm on the 1st string side.

Overall, there are few signs of use considering the age of the guitar, but it has been scalloped. Other than that, it can be said that it is a highly original piece of guitar. This is a great news for those who have dreamed of having a scalloped Les Paul.

シリアルナンバーから1980年製、ヘッドトップには『Love Rock』のロゴから1980年から81年への過渡期のモデルと思われます。プレーンメイプルトップにマホガニー1pcsバック。そのフィニッシュはラッカーとなっております。ネックはマホガニーで指板はローズウッド。その指板面には全体的にスキャロップド加工が施されており、トップ面のポジションマークは消えております。またサイドポジションマークはかろうじて残っております。両PUはオリジナルで裏面にはあのGotoh製のスタンプあり。またこの時期特有のPUカバー簡易着脱式を採用しております。またコントロールキャビティにはオリジナルで導電塗料が施されており、基盤配線仕様のオリジナル状態です。

ボディには拭きキズ、スリキズ、打痕、塗装反応があります。ピックガードには細かい感じで全体的にピッキングキズがあります。ボディトップメイプルのセンタープライ部分には薄っすらと塗装惹きがあります。トグルスイッチ右脇に爪先状の当てキズがあり、ボディトップ右下エッジ部分には当てキズがあります。またボディトップテールピース左脇を中心に大小打痕があります。ボディ右下サイド部分には4cm四方の平行四辺形の形でストラップとの塗装反応跡があります。ボディエンドのストラップピン周りにはスタンド焼けが薄っすらとあり、その脇には約2cm程の線状の塗装クラックがあります。またボディサイド左クビレ部分に薄っすらと塗装反応があり、その他サイド部分には大小打痕が点在しております。ボディバック、バックパネル右下部分にはステッカーを取りたかったのか溶剤を使って塗装面が垂れた跡が親指大の大きさであります。ボディバック外周部分には大小打痕やスリキズ・塗装剥がれがあります。ネック裏7Fからハイポジションにかけて豆粒大の打痕が点在しており、4F1・2弦辺りには線状の引っかきキズがあります。ヘッド先端部分には塗装剥がれがあり、ヘッドロゴ周りには薄っすらと白濁があります。ネックサイド12F1弦側の約3cmのバインディング剥がれを修正跡があります。各ハードウェアにはメッキの劣化やクスミ・使用感がありますが雰囲気があります。

ネックコンディションは問題なく、トラスロッドは締める方向緩める方向に調整可能で、締める方向にまだ少し回せ調整可能です。フレットには弦跡等は無く残りは7割程です。現状弦高は12F6弦側で約2.0mm、1弦側で約1.5mmで調整されております。

全体的には使用感は年式からして少なめですが、まさかのスキャロップド加工が施されております。そこ以外はオリジナリティの高い一本といえます。『レスポールにスキャロップドがあれば・・・』と夢にまで思っている方にはまさに朗報。Tokaiマニアの方にはコレクションの一部に、ギター系インフルエンサーの方には話題作りに如何ですか?
