The STS-550R was developed at the suggestion of Shigeru Narige, one of the guitarists behind Japanese rock music, to create a Strat that would be easy to play for Japanese people with small hands.

The body was downsized to fit the contoured neck heel and short scale neck, and the controls were changed to master volume and master tone. The slightly flat fretboard, 22 frets, and 2-point tremolo support were the forerunners of today's modern specs, and we tip our hats to them.

The tremolo mechanism is the ENDROX G1, a 10.5mm pitch 2-point tremolo with newly developed hardware that can lock upside-down strings on the block side. The pickups are also differentiated from other models with HOTROD-5S.

The serial number indicates that it was manufactured by Fujigen from 1989 to 1990.

There are some discoloration marks from sticker application, and some scratches and dings, but it is in very clean condition for its age.

Neck condition is currently fine.
Truss rod has room to spare.

日本のロックを支えたギタリストのひとり、成毛滋氏の提案により、手の小さな日本人にも弾きやすいストラトを、と開発されたSTS-550R。

コンターが施されたネックヒール、ショートスケールネックにあわせてボディも小型化、コントロールもマスターボリューム、マスタートーンに変更。ややフラットな指板と22フレット仕様、2点支持トレモロと現代のモダンスペックの先駆となる先見性には脱帽です。

トレモロ機構は当時新開発の ENDROX G1という10.5mmピッチ 2点支持トレモロで、逆さに張った弦をブロック側でロックすることも可能な新開発のハードウェアを搭載。ピックアップもHOTROD-5Sと他モデルとの差別化が図られています。

シリアルから1989年から1990年 フジゲン製造。

ステッカー貼付による変色差痕があり、傷や打痕も見受けられるものの、年代から見ると非常にきれいなコンディションです。
