Condition: Overall, the original lacquer is discolored to a darker shade. The bell and U-tube are engraved. Lacquer peeling is noticeable mainly on the areas where the fingers hit the surface. Rusting can be seen on the engraved parts. Overall, rusting and lacquer peeling from the base metal can be seen.
There is a dent repair near the neck cork, a dent repair on the U-tube, and a small dent on the bell tube. sideC key post base is slightly sunken, but there is no problem in playing.

Description
This French Selmer Mark 7, manufactured around 1980, is a model change from the Mark 6, which was manufactured for about 20 years, with larger key parts, a revised tube thickness and tube design, and an evolution toward the more powerful sound and increased dynamics required of saxophones at the time. The jazz scene at that time also had a background of the time when electric instruments began to spread from acoustic compositions, and the Mark 7 is a masterpiece that supported the music scene of fusion, rock, and crossover.

The lacquer of French Selmer is hard and does not peel off easily, but considering that the instrument is about 45 years old, it is considered to be in relatively good condition.

The impression of playing it is that it has a stronger resistance than the current Selmer, and that it needs extra energy to be played at high volume, but it is not difficult to play. I tried it with a Mayer, and I got the impression that the sound setting can take advantage of the orthodox sound of a rubber mouthpiece, and that it catches the breath of the player. It seems to have a good blowing feel that would give good results even when played with a high-baffle metal mouthpiece.

In the large category of vintage saxophones, the Mark 6 is still overwhelmingly popular, but the Mark 7 has a strong fan base, and many players have been fascinated by its sound.
Although the number of excellent vintage Selmer saxophones is decreasing, Frasell 7 is still one of the most affordable and practical vintage saxophones that is worth trying.
